FAQ
-
Will my child’s grades count in other schools?Yes, your child's grades will count in other schools.
-
Are you accredited? No, The Light Academy is not accredited as accreditation of private schools is not required or recognized by Florida DOE. As described by Florida Department of Education, "The Florida Department of Education does not accredit, regulate, approve, or license K-12 private schools. Additionally, the Florida Department of Education does not officially recognize any of the various agencies that accredit private schools. Section 1002.42, Florida Statutes, requires K-12 private schools to register with the department by completing an annual survey each year and explicitly provides that submitting annual survey data and being listed in the directory of private schools should not be used by any private school to imply approval or accreditation by the state. There are many organizations with widely variant quality standards and program requirements that accredit private schools. Requests for information about the accreditation of a specific school should be directed to the school staff or its designated accrediting agency. The acceptance of diplomas from private schools will be subject to the requirements of the receiving educational institution or employer." https://www.fldoe.org/schools/school-choice/private-schools/accreditation.stml

What is multiple intelligences and how does it work? The theory of multiple intelligences developed by Howard Gardner, a psychologist and professor at Harvard University, proposed that people possess different kinds of intelligences, rather than just one general intelligence (traditionally measured by IQ tests). These intelligences can be developed and nurtured in different ways, and TLA embraces this approach by tailoring its teaching methods to recognize and support the diverse ways students learn and express their abilities. Benefits of a Multiple Intelligences School Personalized Learning: Students are more likely to engage with the material and excel when the curriculum is aligned with their strengths. Diverse Learning Strategies: Students have the opportunity to learn through various methods, keeping them engaged and interested. Holistic Development: It supports not just intellectual growth but also social, emotional, and physical development. Improved Self-Esteem: When students are encouraged to develop their strengths, they often feel more confident and motivated in school. TLA embraces the idea that each student has unique strengths and talents, and learning should be tailored to help each student reach their full potential. This approach not only enhances academic achievement but also supports a well-rounded education that nurtures the diverse ways children think, learn, and create.
