About the Role
The Light Academy of Florida is seeking a reliable and hardworking full-time Custodian to join our team. The custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work, be detail-oriented, and demonstrate the ability to manage daily cleaning tasks while responding to the needs of the school community.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and emptying trash in classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.
Clean and sanitize restrooms and ensure they are well-stocked with supplies.
Maintain cleanliness of school grounds, including entrances and outdoor seating areas.
Perform minor maintenance tasks as needed (e.g., changing light bulbs, unblocking sinks, etc.).
Restock cleaning and maintenance supplies as needed, and inform administration when supplies need to be reordered.
Set up and break down spaces for events, meetings, or activities.
Respond to spills, accidents, or urgent cleaning needs in a timely and efficient manner.
Ensure the school building is secure at the end of the day, locking doors and setting alarms as necessary.
Follow safety procedures and guidelines when handling cleaning supplies and equipment.
Assist with any additional custodial or maintenance duties as directed by the administration.
Qualifications:
Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to lift and move heavy objects as required.
Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
Knowledge of cleaning products, safety procedures, and maintenance equipment is preferred.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends.
Benefits:
Competitive hourly compensation for this position ranges from $25/hr. - $30/hr.
